Roy McCormick: Majority being ignored
What is it that brings people together, to congregate into tribes, cities and even nations? It is their relationships, convenience of commerce, pooled skills, common enemies and safety in numbers. What keeps people congregated? It is their shared beliefs, traditions, language and ideals; essentially it is commonality and a majority consensus of what is most beneficial to the whole congregation.
In the last 10 or so years, society, with the support of government, has shifted away from commonality and majority consensus to embrace narcissism, disestablishmentarianism and the anti-natural. Our government routinely oversteps its constitutional boundaries or abdicates its constitutional duty altogether not on behalf of we the people but of special interests.
Two examples of government overreach are the Supreme Court rulings that were not judicial but legislative in nature. The court and the executive branch, outside their respective purviews, have established and continue to establish extra rights for the few over the will of the many. These actions set us firmly on the path toward dissolution as a nation.
Like it or not, it is majority consensus, the glue, that holds together congregations of tribes, cities or nations. No congregation will exist for long when the majority is repeatedly ignored and or disenfranchised.
