Leonard Wilson: Second-class citizens

I remain perplexed why the North Carolina Senate in its budget proposal treats state workers, who serve the public in hundreds of ways daily, as enemies of the state, or at the very least as third-rate residents. They fail to relate to us as residents, taxpayers, voters, contributors to charities and respectable next-door neighbors.

I guess it’s just not politically correct. After all, who ever heard of a politician who made his campaign theme that of a champion of those in public service? Sad. May the more appreciative House budget prevail.
