Jeb Jeutter: Newspaper carriers need to keep the faith
I admit that I long for the old days. I eschew air conditioning for the outdoors, prefer to walk or run rather than drive and I still use a blackberry (much to the chagrin of my children).
But one thing I still relish is my morning N&O. I do not want to read it online. I like to touch it, smell it, turn the pages.
As we have moved to this electronic world, I fear that the carriers have become disheartened, perhaps lost faith.
I write to let them know that there are still people out there who get up at the crack of dawn (or before) to walk down the drive to experience the joy of the newspaper. Don’t give up on us. We are out here, appreciate them, and would gladly even pay a little more for home delivery if we were ensured it would arrive to be read as the sun is coming up.
Hey, we might even get our kids to read with us. I’m a former carrier, so please don’t mistake this as a complaint, but just a thought. Thanks for all they do!
