William Burpitt: President-bashing part of life

I was amused, interested and curious about Wallace McLendon’s July 25 Point of View “When Obama-bashing ends friendships.”

Interested that he found three people in Chapel Hill whose views of the president are as unfavorable as my own. I thought I was alone!

Amused that he found this to be so dismaying. Had I let Bush-bashing and snarky attacks on Republicans bruise me as grievously as McLendon, I’d be wounded and crippled by now.

However, I don’t insist that everyone, friends included, agree with me about politics or anything else.

And, finally, curious why The N&O decided to publish what amounts to nothing more than petulance over differences in political opinion. Unless, of course, the paper wanted to toss a little feel-good red meat to its liberal readers.
