John E. Lane: Partisan decision

The recent decision on school vouchers is further indication of why candidates for judgeships need to be identified by political party.

Thankfully, four of the N.C. Supreme Court justices chose to apply the law and not try to legislate from the bench. Those four good judges are members of the party of liberty and personal responsibility, while the three opposed to school choice are members of the party of food stamps and corruption.

If we are to remain a nation where the rule of law will keep us free, we need to remove from the bench those judges who seek to apply their opinions as law.
