Sharon McDonald: Can’t even imagine
Regarding the July 28 column “Our vulnerable black bodies”: I found this article to be powerful and disturbing.
I am not black. I am white. I tried to imagine myself in the situation of attracting police attention simply by driving while black, as described so movingly by the author, a black woman. But, as hard as I tried, I could not imagine it realistically, because it will never happen to me or to anyone else in my family. Because we are white.
Yes, racism does still exist in this country.
