Ruth Zalph: No better Iran deal, no later

The July 31 Point Of View article “With Iran deal, hope rather than hardliners wins” by J. Mark Davidson was right on target. Offensive war has never been the answer to differences, nor does it resolve problems, which will continue to fester like an untreated wound. Legislators will soon vote on the Iran agreement, hammered out in Vienna. The American public is loath to send their sons and daughters overseas to fight another war believing it would further destabilize the Middle East.

Some in Congress say it’s a good plan and will prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon. The extremists, including Sen. Richard Burr and Sen. Thom Tillis, are gearing up to fight the Vienna Accord, pledging to vote “no,” saying they will wait for a better deal later. There is no better deal. There is no later.
