Karyn Traut: The male part of pregnancy
Kudos for your July 31 political cartoon, depicting a man at a podium railing against abortions, followed by a second drawing showing a woman saying “Done!” as she points to four men in chastity belts.
The way the anti-abortion zealots rage against women wanting to keep their choice, one would think all births were immaculate conceptions. Obviously those who call for women to simply say “no” should also start talking to the people whom these women must say “no” to.
Are these same men willing to give up sex unless there’s a wanted child in the outcome, which means having sex only once or twice or even 19 times in their lives depending on their desired family size? I seriously doubt it.
I have never had an abortion, and at my age, 71, I never will. However, I will defend with all my energy the right of any woman to terminate an unwanted pregnancy in a safe, clean and healthy environment and not be forced back to criminal dives or foreign countries, which is where they went before Roe vs. Wade.
I am certain that every one of those unwanted pregnancies was caused by sexual intercourse with a man.
