Pat Carstensen: Better tech, lower bills

DENR Secretary Donald van der Vaart’s Aug. 15 Point of View “Cooper’s puzzling EPA stance” reminded me of the great line about “lies, damn lies and statistics.”

I’ve seen a lot of different numbers for what the Clean Power Plan will do to power bills, choosing different years for their prediction, different assumptions about generating technology, different ways to mess with the numbers and creating predictions all over the map, positive and negative.

Given the volatility of future global resource prices, I’d rather be using more technology where the fuel is free.
