Fred Howes: Time to move on from hatred
Regarding the Aug. 17 Point of View “Our anti-Confederate heritage, too”: I have never read a more intelligent article than Timothy B. Tyson’s about North Carolina history and the current dialogue going on about Confederate monuments.
It is time that things change in our great state. We need not continue to honor the period of white supremacy and the so-called heritage that the pro-Confederate folks hang onto.
It is way past time that our legislature, and our governor, stand up as statesmen and women and consider legislation and enact laws that begin to honor those who more appropriately should be honored on public places.
