John Lowe: Trump-lite candidate needed

The most amazing thing about Donald Trump’s rise to prominence in the Republican presidential race is not that he’s in the lead, but the fact that some people actually are spending time discussing his potential to win. Donald Trump will never be president of the United Statees.

I truly applaud the fact that he is raising the visibility and the discussion around the public’s frustration with American politics. Our political environment is in huge need of an overhaul.

That being said, we still need someone as president who actually understands how to get things done within the processes which make up our democracy. Being the chief executive of the country has little resemblance to being the chief executive of a private company. Things do not get done just because the president says so. In fact, given the partisan nature of our government, it is often the opposite.

Trump is accomplishing exactly what he is best known for, that being he is the center of attention for the whole country, and I am sure each morning he awakes with a huge smile because of that. He has already accomplished his major goal.

I hope we can find someone who shares Trump’s vision of governmental reform, but who brings a sense of realism in terms of what actually can be accomplished.
