Paul Keadle III: A teacher’s place

I have always been opposed to raising taxes. However, I am completely in favor of raising taxes for the specific purpose of raising teacher salaries and improving our public education system.

A decline in the quality of public education is harmful to the long-term health of North Carolina’s economy and a promise broken to our children.

But, assuming we fund public education at a reasonable level, we need to hold parents and children to the highest level of accountability.

Said another way, it’s not up to teachers to raise children, it’s their job to educate them.
