Leonard Wilson: Send reprobates away

As one who enjoys an occasional tropical drink, an appetizer and perhaps a beer at a family bar or restaurant but who keeps my manners and driving ability in total perspective, I appreciated your Aug. 30 news article “Downtown under the influence” on the growing drinking problem in Raleigh.

If these beer-guzzling yokels can’t get enough booze in their bellies while sitting at the tables on the streets of downtown Raleigh until midnight – laughing, hollering and trashing the sidewalks and streets, then grumbling as they have to go inside the bar for another two or three rounds until 1 a.m. – then all responsible Raleigh residents who are proud of our downtown emergence have every right to invite these rowdies out of town.

Raleigh will survive the loss of their drunken, disgusting indulgence, their filthy language and dirty jokes and sickening puke for others to have to view and others to have to clean up.

Let’s say adios to these youthful, inconsiderate misfits.

Leonard Wilson
