Hilda Eakins: Transparent Trump

Regarding the Aug. 29 column “Trumpward, Christian soldiers?” by Frank Bruni: Being a Christian, I object to being called “flamboyant, judgmental Christians,” “holy rollers” and “selective and incoherent.”

Bruni demeaned Christians for being judgmental then proceeds to judge Donald Trump. Bruni has a right to his opinion, but the contrast in condemning one group of people for what he is doing himself is interesting.

I am not a Donald Trump fan. However, I believe his popularity with many people stems from the fact that he says what a lot of people are thinking but won’t express. Many people, including myself, feel that politicians put on a false front just to get elected and say what they think their constituents want to hear; Donald gets it out in the open.

My church welcomes saints and sinners, even Bruni and Trump, without judging them. We leave that up to God.
