Doug Jurney: Planned Parenthood cuts not sensible

Recent statistics indicate that 70 percent of African-American, 50 percent of Latino and 30 percent of white babies are born out of wedlock. There seems to be general agreement that these troubling statistics will be a major contributor to future poverty, welfare and crime.

Yet I read in the Sept. 16 news article “Budget cuts out Planned Parenthood funding” that the new state budget wants to eliminate Planned Parenthood.

The Republican House in Washington threatens to shut down the government unless Planned Parenthood is defunded.

Has common sense left the building?
