Deborah Brogden: Singing their praises

Regarding the photo with the Oct. 1 news article “Legislature leaves hot topics on McCrory’s desk”: While I still adhere to the basic tenet that no man or woman’s life, liberty or happiness is safe while the North Carolina legislature is in session, I was heartened to see two gentlemen of the legislature from opposing sides, in a duet, singing one of the great mountain songs, “Long Black Veil.” It gives one hope.
