Mike Taylor: Nearing gun threshold?

The dictionary defines threshold as “the point at which a stimulus is just strong enough to be perceived or produce a response.” I have to wonder at what point we will cross the threshold where the United States Congress has the courage to act on gun control.

We already know a massacre of 26 at Sandy Hook Elementary School, including 20 children, was not enough. The only thing the dead at Sandy Hook produced was terrible grief for their families and more money for the NRA.

The murders on the community college campus in Oregon will quickly become a footnote in our long and tragic path regarding guns.

If 20 children did not move us as a nation to action, I shudder to think just what the threshold will be that causes Americans to collectively say “enough!”
