Richard Cassel: School musical chairs

Our subdivision sends our children to Leesville Road schools. In the 18 years we have lived in this house, we have had the following experiences with Wake County schools:

▪ Elementary: One child started in Leesville Road, then Hillburn, then Lynn Road, then back to Leesville Road.

▪ Middle school: One child started in Leesville Road, then Carroll Middle, then back to Leesville Road.

▪ High school: Four children, started in Leesville Road, then Sanderson, then Wakefield, and finally in the same year, one was sent to Leesville Road and the other two back to Sanderson.

Our subdivision has been abused by Wake County for a long time. Our house sits almost halfway between two fine elementary schools. Now Wake County wants our children to be bused to an elementary school in Morrisville. Why? So that the rich people in Brier Creek can have their children attend Leesville Road instead of the school expressly built for them?

This ridiculous plan must be stopped. A few years ago, Wake County voters replaced most of those on the school board. I guess we need to do that again.
