Phil Gurkin: Ambush strategy

In reference to the Oct. 17 news article “As Rep. Renee Ellmers dodges rumor, some rivals talk it up”: I had an idea while cleaning out my gutters after my daily reading of The N&O. I’m not sure whether it was so much the article or my hands in the muck, but that’s when it hit me.

If the congresswoman’s rivals are upset that her staff prohibited video and audio recordings at a recent GOP meeting, they can recruit a couple of college-age folks with a video camera and tape recorder and ambush her on the sidewalk. Ask her about the rumored affair, and while they’re at it, ask her whether she’ll miss that “flaming moderate” John Boehner. It’s tried and true.
