Anne Bryan: Economic security the goal
In the Oct. 19 column “Economic equality as moral imperative,” I believe George Will’s thesis missed the point and sidestepped a crucial nuance.
Few would advocate absolute economic equality; rather, the true imperative is for the real opportunity to attain economic security and enjoy a life less fettered by the stresses of low wages.
Policies that enhance the ability of children to reach their potential, of families to stay healthy and of adults to find good jobs that pay well while the wealthier pay a fair share have to be good for all of us.
