Bill Rogers: Sanders has a plan

After digesting the Democratic debate, I have realized what a monumental change Bernie Sanders is proposing.

The moment that the Citizen’s United verdict was issued by the Supreme Court, we gave up the pretense that money wasn’t running the government. It has actually been that way for a long while, but now we seem to have accepted it as status quo.

Sanders doesn’t accept this. He wants to put the government back into the hands of the people. By voting candidates in or out of office, he believes we can get our representatives in Congress to be responsive to the public rather than to the people willing to shower money onto their campaigns.

This seemingly revolutionary idea is what the Founding Fathers had in mind when the Constitution was written! In order for this to happen, we need to eradicate the apathy that has gripped voters. We need to believe that we can make a difference in how this country is run.

This is a chance to take back our country from the people who want laws passed to feed only the wealthy. It is time we all educated ourselves about the candidates and voted for our favorite.
