Cheryl Mensch: Birth control creation

Regarding the Sept. 28 letter “Population control needed”: With clarity and common sense, the writer made his argument for population control, advocating birth control as a crucial step in avoiding or minimizing the devastating effects of food, water, land and resource shortages.

He assigned responsibility to all nations for examining their own policies regarding population control or lack thereof, stating that “nations must live with the effects of their policies.” What a novel idea!

Even as science has provided the human race with effective means of birth control, fundamentalist religious organizations worldwide continue to put obstacles in the way of people using them.

Does anyone consider the possibility that God has brought about these discoveries to be a boon to mankind?

The writer ended his letter with these words: “The world needs to see them for the damage they are doing.” Amen!
