Kevin Ren: Let’s be like China concerning guns

I am from China and a sophomore at East Chapel Hill High School. On Oct. 1, a shooter in Oregon killed students and a professor at a community college. Many people died. This shooting incident was the 45th school shooting this year in America.

In China, people do not have guns. There has never been a school shooting. Students there do not practice lock-down drills. Why are there so many shootings here?

It seems like everybody in America has a gun. Why do so many people have guns? Is it so that they can protect themselves? If so, that idea is not working.

Guns are everywhere, and people in America can be shot at any time. The American government should manage how people get guns. People with a gun can shoot students, and so students here are not protected.

I believe the American people do not want shootings in schools or anywhere. Let’s tell government officials to pass laws to keep us safe from guns.
