Charles D. Poynton: Money trumps ethics

After reading the Oct. 31 news article “McCrory brokered meeting to extend donor’s contracts,” I thought for a minute that I was back in New Jersey, but then a light went on, and I realized it’s politics. It is the same shady happenings no matter where one lives, because politics and politicians are the same everywhere.

I would love to see a bill put forth locally, at the state level and nationally that would forbid political donors and their families and relatives from profiting as a result of their donations, which might have helped elect one of our “trusted” elected officials.

In this case, any and all contracts put forth by anyone donating to Gov. Pat McCrory’s campaign should be null and void and looked into for wrongdoing.

Don’t think this is just more right-wing corruption. It’s not. Both sides are guilty as sin. One need only look at who profited from the Obamacare scam to see this is widespread.

I challenge our elected officials to “get some ethics” and do the right thing, but it is politics, and it is all about and only about money.
