Garry Terry: McCrory did nothing wrong
Your Oct. 31 news article “McCrory brokered meeting to extend donor’s contracts” was a real head-scratcher. After reading the story, I think the headline should have read, “Disgruntled state employees go after McCrory.”
So, an agency had a dispute with a longtime state contractor. Gov. Pat McCrory called a meeting, asked for cost-benefit analysis and extensive review of the contracts and ultimately sided on the side of taxpayers. A few disgruntled bureaucrats didn’t like the decision to stick to privatization so they called the FBI, cried foul and leaked documents to help make their case.
You failed to recognize that prison officials, who are state employees, are against privatization! And it’s really shady that you cite former employees, some of whom left for spurious reasons.
You have now had an editorial and several news articles attacking McCrory, who has the very highest ethical standards, had a presidential appointment to the Homeland Security Advisory Council and was mayor of Charlotte for 14 years.
This article used deceiving headlines and selective information from former employees with an ax to grind. The blatant liberal bias in this story is sickening and can hardly be called journalism.
