Scott Weathers: Chances for children

Regarding the Nov. 2 editorial “Push further on global health”: I want to give a big thanks to the editorial board for calling on North Carolina representatives to support the bipartisan Reach Every Mother and Child Act.

This fantastic legislation would capitalize on the progress we’ve already made in reducing the number of preventable deaths by making U.S. spending on global health even more effective. All this, without costing a single extra penny.

As a North Carolina native, I grew up in a state filled with enormous opportunity. It’s time children all around the world got to experience the same.

I call on my representatives – Sens. Thom Tillis and Richard Burr, and Rep. David Price – to co-sponsor this piece of bipartisan legislation.

The Reach Act is our opportunity to save the lives of mothers and children around the world. Let’s take it.
