Sarah Almblad: UNC BOG’s bad use of tax money
Regarding the Nov. 3 news article “12 chancellors get 8%-19% pay raises”: How does the UNC Board of Governors justify the outlandishly extravagant pay raises for the UNC chancellors?
If the rationale for the high salary increases is meant to retain these chancellors rather than risk losing them to other states, then why not let them go? There must be other leaders who can ably fill these positions who have more noble ambitions than to fill their pockets with as much compensation as a very misguided Board of Governors will allocate.
Along with the hope that the chancellors will reject these increases, should we not also expect a replacement of the current Board of Governors with one that has the very serious needs of our state at heart rather than supplementing the salaries of the already wealthy?
I personally object to my taxes being used so irresponsibly.
