David Gardner: Who wants the REINS?
Jon Sanders’ Nov. 13 Point of View “Why North Carolina needs its own REINS Act” relied solely on a paper from the Beacon Hill Institute.
A few seconds with a computer search showed that Beacon Hill is a Koch brothers-funded, ALEC-affiliated organization with a long history of biased (and subsequently debunked) position papers.
Sanders’ position at Art Pope’s pet “think” tank, the John Locke Foundation, is probably warning enough that this is a completely biased essay, but some people might be fooled by the reasonable-sounding Beacon Hill Institute and so not question Sanders’ imaginary statistics.
