Emily Paterson: Surgical recordings beneficial
Regarding the Nov. 30 news article “Calls for recording surgeries ignored in NC”: North Carolina nonprofit hospitals and insurance companies record multimillion-dollar profits, but the N.C. Hospital Association and politicians rejected the idea of implementing surgical recordings to reduce errors.
As a parent of a child who now has a 504 Plan following a garage fall fracture, I very much wish that our family and surgeon could view a recording of his surgery to sort out medical record discrepancies and see whether surgery could be improved for the next child.
