Alice Ligon: Banishing hate

Regarding the San Bernardino shootings: It isn’t about gun control or how we spell our names or what we believe in or what country we call home. It’s about hate.

Gun control laws, background checks or closed borders won’t remove hate from the lives of some people. As long as there is hate, there will be people willing to strap bombs to themselves.

We are too late for many who hate Americans and the French and each other. But every one of us can help remove hate from our lives. Until we do, this type of carnage will continue.

Please take time to look in the mirror and say “I will no longer hate ______.” Fill in the blank and keep looking in the mirror at the face of a truly free person.

Alice Ligon
