Greg McAvoy: Let police deal with threats

In the Dec. 4 Point of View “Why guns should be allowed on campuses,” the author described a scenario straight from central casting: Someone saves themselves or others from danger by carrying a gun and shooting the gunman. The reality of guns on campus would be quite different.

Do we really want guns in classrooms and dorms, at football games and fraternity parties? During a crisis or a false alarm, do we really want the police to be distracted or confused by those with concealed carry?

As someone who works at a university, I feel much a safer letting the professionals deal with potential and real threats on campus.
