Nedra G. Mills: New logo costly
Regarding the Dec. 7 news article “McCrory administration rolls with new NC brand”: The legislature gave the Department of Commerce $1.5 million for this project and we are losing our teachers to other states. Almost half a million dollars was contracted for an ad agency to help develop the new logo.
We have a teacher shortage, and the state doesn’t have money to give them wage increases, our infrastructure is in shreds and there is not any money to improve the roads and bridges.
Our teachers are moving out of state to better their lives. Older people have seen an increase in taxes and decrease in medical care and most other benefits. People are going hungry, but that doesn’t seem to be as important as a new state logo. Our homeless and mental population can’t get the help they need. If we don’t have money to retain qualified teachers then our children suffer. Older people and mental patients are dying or suffering as a result of our government acts.
If the ad agency is paid almost half a million dollars, just think what the cost of changing signs, etc., will be. Typical McCrory.
