Clay Whitehead: NRC collusion

The News & Observer series “Irradiated” on nuclear workers provided evidence that weapons producers have sickened their employees while reducing their health care benefits.

Now the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a governmental agency responsible for monitoring this work, has canceled studies that could link the work to diverse cancers. Collusion with business rather than regulation of it appears to be the NRC policy.

We must continue to remember that the nuclear industry, in addition to poisoning and sickening its workers, places the entire human species at risk of destruction from its explosive products. When considered carefully, its apparently psychotic disregard for humanity can be best understood as malignant greed. This deceitful collusion is profoundly perverse and endangers us all.
