Regarding the Dec. 15 Under the Dome article “State retiree shift to Medicare stalled”: Am I the only one who finds it passing strange that our legislature, so wary of federal medical programs that it refuses to accept expanding the Medicaid program, would actually propose shifting retired state employees to the federal Medicare program?
If there is an unfunded liability in our state retiree health fund then we should raise taxes to fix it rather than transferring our responsibility to the federal government. It is our responsibility to those who have served us.
