With regard to Robin Abcarian’s argument in favor of more guns (“For safety, more guns, not fewer,” Dec. 8 column), let’s try to visualize the main hall of the Inland Regional Center at the time when people start to hear guns being fired. And then everyone carrying a gun pulls out a gun, but mostly they see all the other people around them with drawn guns, not necessarily the original shooters. These may all be well-intended gun owners, but certainly chaos and carnage would ensue.
Once the shooting starts, anyone and everyone would take on the appearance of “the shooter.” And can we imagine the death toll then – 50, 75, 100?
More guns means more deaths, not fewer.
