Maitri Acharya: Dark day for animals

Regarding the Dec. 11 business article “Poultry video leads to arrest”: The latest undercover investigation at a North Carolina chicken farm released by Mercy for Animals showed animal abuse too horrible to stomach. This is a perfect example of why the ag-gag law, which goes into effect Jan. 1, is bad news for animals and our state.

It’s obvious that the ag-gag law is meant to keep the public in the dark about atrocities happening in our own backyards. Who do these lawmakers and the industry executives behind them think they’re fooling?
