Steve Barnes: Virginia not for gun-lovers

Regarding the Dec. 23 news article “Va. revokes permit deal with 25 states”: The attorney general of Virginia, Mark Herring (Democrat), announced that Virginia will no longer recognize North Carolina out-of-state concealed handgun permits.

I travel up and down the East Coast multiple times per year, and I occasionally vacation in Virginia. Because of the above, effective immediately, I will do my best to limit any time and actively find alternatives to spending “money” (gas food, vacation) in Virginia. My world has just gotten a little smaller.

But on the positive side, North Carolina offers so much beauty – from the Atlantic Ocean beaches to the Appalachian Mountains – that one lifetime is just not enough to experience its bounty. Maybe I should thank Herring ... not.
