Robert D. McTigue: Reject climate alarmists

The Dec. 24 letter from retired meteorologist Marvin Maddox, “The ‘Goldilocks’ level of carbon dioxide,” provided information regarding the natural climate cycles the earth has experienced and that we may be heading into a cooling period which can be disrupted by carbon dioxide and methane.

This is a very sound argument that the climate change alarmists are missing.

The Dec. 24 Point of View from Jim Warren, “Climate crisis won’t wait for world leaders,” is an attack on Duke Energy and stated that “coal burning must stop.” Fossil fuels currently provide 85 percent of our energy with coal providing 49 percent.

The Paris Climate Agreement will increase the cost of energy for everyone including the poorest countries. We should pay attention to scientists such as Marvin Maddox and reject alarmists such as NC WARN and Jim Warren.
