Sheila Read: Change for the future
Regarding the Dec. 9 Focus article “From Paris, a climate change message to N.C.”: I found it refreshing to see a Greensboro business leader making a case for strong state incentives for clean energy.
Letitia Webster represents many industry leaders who are ready to invest in sustainability, counteracting the myth that reducing our reliance on fossil fuels will be bad for businesses. I agree that fear of change in the status quo seems to be fueling powerful climate change deniers. But the climate is changing whether we acknowledge it or not.
We can choose to respond with courage, making necessary changes to our businesses and our lives. Or we can remain stuck in denial and fear while the seas rise and the planet overheats. Which sounds more in keeping with the American character?
