Carl Hinson: A nervy proposition

Regarding the Jan. 1 letter “Limiting ‘bikelash’ ”: The writer stated that “roads are for more than just vehicles, they are for people, whether we are driving, riding a bike or the bus, running or walking.”

I am a country bumpkin from slow-moving Wilson, and recently I had no choice but to drive (my car) about eight miles on I-440 in your fair city. By the time I exited, I was a bundle of twisted nerves. I wouldn’t have felt safe in a Sherman tank.

To travel this road on a bike, which the writer feels is her right, would demonstrate the stupidity of a cockroach crawling under an elephant’s foot.
