Andy Maholick: Obama, the best gun salesman
The number of guns per 100 residents in the United States is 112.6 as of 2014. The Congressional Research Service in 2009 estimated that there were 310 million firearms in the U.S., not including military weapons. Of these, 114 million were handguns, 110 million were rifles and 86 million were shotguns.
The guns are already out there, and anyone who really wants one can get one.
There are about 33,000 deaths each year due to gun violence. In 2013, 21,000 of these were suicides. Since 2001, there have been a total of about 466,000 deaths.
The gun violence war was lost a long time ago. It’s an American tragedy!
Since Obama has become president, the sales of Smith and Wesson have increased 558 percent and were up 165 percent in the last year. They were up another 14 percent after Obama’s “tears for fears” speech. Smith and Wesson has outperformed the FANG stocks (Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google). Sturm Ruger was up 89 percent on the year and was up 6.76 percent after Obama’s speech.
This is largely because of Obama, the world’s best gun salesman.
