Hylton Lawrence: Coverup implied

Regarding your Dec. 31 editorial “Review trooper’s accident”: There is a scientific method to determine speed at impact. I doubt seriously that the NC Highway Patrol would try to cover up this accident as you implied. The witnesses could hardly claim the trooper was going 90 mph. Did they have a radar gun? They say they saw no brake lights, but she obviously did not see the man.

I am sure the trooper is remorseful about the death of this unfortunate man. I think you should be more careful about what you print. The editorial implies a coverup by the NCHP.
