Tom Sisk: Protecting abusers

I just read the Dec. 31 news article “New laws set on abortion, ‘ag-gag’. ” The only real purpose this law serves is to protect business owners who abuse workers, animals and/or the environment.

This law keeps folks from showing the public the illegal and unethical business practices of those businesses that choose to do whatever they can to make an extra dollar, eschewing the minimal costs of doing business in an ethical and moral way – costs that honest and ethical business owners consider an acceptable price for doing business the right way.

Our General Assembly has repeatedly shown itself to be incapable of doing the right thing. This is yet one more sorry example of its political cowardice.
