Brett Rodler: Unarmed are subjects

Concerning all the Dec. 20 Sunday Forum anti-gun letters: The further we get away from America’s founding, the more people forget our freedoms are a result of an armed uprising against an unfair, repressive king. An unarmed citizen is merely a subject. Simple as that.

In a time when the trust of our government is at an all-time low, how can so many be so ready to hand over the only recourse American citizens would have against an overreaching, suppressive government?

What, like that is now an impossibility with our enlightened, honorable and trustworthy political class?

I have heard that Europeans look to their government for protection and that Americans look for protection from their government. The Second Amendment protects all the others.

Anyone looking to be a subject, I hear Europe is welcoming anyone these days.
