Carol Conway: Vague for a reason

Regarding the Jan. 11 Point of View “A constitutionally challenged candidate”: Our Founding Fathers were not necessarily all geniuses.

I am no fan of presidential candidate Ted Cruz, but if it means we must adjudicate the meaning of “natural born citizen” then we must also clarify what is “natural.” What of citizens conceived through artificial insemination? Birth by C-section? What if Americans give birth on the International Space Station? Yes, that’s silly.

The point is the U.S. Constitution is a document of its time. In government, as in religion, documents should be the basis for understanding core values, but not for creating strict dogma.
