Kathy Grosvenor: Tax games
Last year, Rep. Paul Stam wrote to you to chide us imbecile residents for forgetting the 2011 sales tax rate cut, and now he has written to once more remind us about that reduction and to complain about your reporting of a tax shift under the current Republican leadership (“Sales tax reductions,” Jan. 21 letter).
Well, some us know and haven’t yet forgotten that effective March of this year (just a few short weeks from now), sales tax will be added to a whole host of services and labor charges that have been untaxed up until now. These services are those needed by both rich and poor.
I said it last year, and I’ll say it again: Quit playing games, sir.
