William A. Allen III: CSX will stimulate economy

Regarding the Jan. 22 news article “Commissioners ask CSX to find another site”: Who would turn away a quarter-billion-dollar economic development project that will bring badly needed jobs and stimulate decades of robust economic opportunity to economically depressed Eastern North Carolina and our struggling ports at Wilmington and Morehead City?

Apparently plenty of selfish NIMBYs in Johnston County would, and their county commissioners seem embarrassingly ready to cave to their myopic self-centered bleating.

This rail-truck intermodal container project blows pure oxygen into the suffocating Eastern North Carolina economy from I-95 to the coast with the greatest benefits going to the local area near the container hub.

The needs of the many clearly outweigh those of the few in this case. The people of Johnston County and their elected representatives need to support this project for the good of themselves and their Eastern North Carolina neighbors before CSX gets fed up and selects another site in another state.
