Glenn Conway: McCrory waffles on CSX

On Jan. 14 there was a prepared statement from Gov. Pat McCrory’s office regarding the CSX intermodal project in Johnston County: “The CSX will maximize both public and private investments for economic development and job creation, precisely what was envisioned when I worked with the General Assembly to develop the STI law and scoring process.”

On Jan. 26 the governor’s office changed its tune (“McCrory: CSX site may not be viable,” Jan. 27 Business article).

Seems that the governor enjoys announcing things about which he really knows very little, and then when he knows more, he changes his mind. I won’t pass judgment on the merits (or demerits) of the CSX proposal. I am just disappointed once again in the governor’s behavior. He waffles more than Aunt Jemima.
