Mike Webb: Too-grand galoshes

I find myself wondering if my 40 years as a subscriber to the hard copy N&O will continue when an entire front page in the Jan. 28 Life section is devoted to “10 chic – and practical – winter boots.” Chic? Maybe. But practical? Really?

Starting at $140 and topping out at $1,795, anyone who finds these a must-have to battle “the snow and ice” needs to get a life.

As Nancy Sinatra used to sing, “These boots are made for walkin’.” At these prices these boots should be talkin’.
