Harvey Montague: Supporting community colleges

Community colleges truly do change lives, and I have a front-row seat for many of those life-changing experiences.

Every day, students enter Wake Tech to pursue a dream and make a better life for themselves and their families. And every day, students emerge stronger, more qualified and ready to contribute to the life of their communities.

These talented, industrious students are part of the qualified workforce that helps North Carolina attract industry and are the entrepreneurs who help our economy thrive.

Community colleges are an essential part of that, serving the state through our strong North Carolina Community College System.

These institutions need support to continue meeting the demand for quality education and training, and that’s what the Connect NC bond initiative is about.

Bond funds will allow all North Carolina community colleges to make long-overdue improvements, without increasing taxes.

Connect NC has garnered broad, bipartisan support, and Wake Tech’s Board of Trustees has unanimously approved a resolution of support for the bond.

I hope everyone will consider its potential impact on the life of our communities when they vote March 15.

Harvey Montague

Chairman, Wake Tech Board of Trustees
